IT Proposal Reviews & Second Opinions

Before committing to a significant technology purchase or project, it can help to have someone independent review the recommendation. North Sound helps small-business owners understand what is being proposed, evaluate the alternatives, and identify questions worth asking before making a decision.

02

Scope

What gets reviewed?

The engagement may consider:

  • The business requirements behind the proposal.
  • The recommended technical approach.
  • Project costs and relevant ongoing expenses.
  • Implementation and operational considerations.
  • Alternatives that may meet the same requirements.
  • Questions or missing information that should be addressed before proceeding.
03

Deliverable

What will I receive?

The deliverable is agreed upon beforehand. A review can only be as specific as the information available. North Sound will not invent a cheaper alternative when the proposal does not have one, and will say when a firm conclusion is not possible yet.

For a typical limited proposal review, the result may include:

  • A concise written assessment.
  • A summary of significant tradeoffs.
  • Questions for the proposing vendor.
  • A discussion of findings and possible next steps.
04

Your provider

Will this interfere with my existing IT provider?

North Sound's role is to provide independent advice to the business owner. The objective is not automatically to replace the existing provider or contradict its recommendations.

Existing providers may have legitimate reasons for their preferred products, configurations, and support arrangements. An independent review helps the owner understand those considerations and evaluate the proposed solution against the business's needs.
